Imphal, March 07 2022:
Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will attain its target of winning over 40 seats in the 12th Manipur Legislative Assembly election and form a BJP-only government in the state, asserted BJP Manipur Pradesh president A Sharda Devi.
Speaking to The People's Chronicle on Monday, Sharda expressed firm belief that the party will win 30 seats in the first phase and 15 seats in the second phase of the polls, thereby securing over 40 seats.
She continued: "As per reports, the position of the party in the first phase was favourable in the valley and there is no worry of getting less that the targeted number of seats.
Thus, BJP will get absolute majority and form a stable government.
Additionally, there is no possibility of forming alliances with other political parties at the moment.
The Chief Ministerial candidate will be decided by the party high command i.e., centre and there is no issue of large number of MLAs who joined the party first or last.
An example would be that in the last election, CM Biren was appointed to the chief ministerial post just after joining the party".
Sharda then said that Congress cannot hope to win the seats in Kakching and Thoubal districts, as BJP will be winning majority of the seats.
All of BJP's women candidates will also emerge victorious, she predicted.
Regarding the pre and post poll violence, the party president remarked that violence also occurred in the past.
However, the reaction appears much intense this time because of social media.
It would be wrong to only charge BJP for the poll violence for any survey and investigation into these incidents will show which political parties are involved.
BJP, on its part, has been trying to prevent any such violence, she maintained, while refuting all accusations of the party having nexus with SoO groups.
"It would be best to ignore such baseless claims which are clearly lacking evidences," she said, while advising all concerned not to make statements carelessly.
