Imphal, March 07 2022:
Ahead of the coming of International Women's Day observance, The Readers Collective, Thoubal Keithel Phambi Mathak Makha Apunba and Waikhom Mani Girls' College Students' Union have jointly exhorted the womenfolk, suppressed working, women in particular, to join hands and strive for breaking the chains binding them and establishing an egalitarian society.
In a joint release, the organisations traced history of observance of International Women's Day to the movement launched by working women for equal pay and voting rights in New York in February, 1909 .
The movement spread for an egalitarian society in Soviet Union and later, International Women's Day was observed across the world.
In today's unrest society, the poor become poorer .and the rich accumulate huge wealth by sucking the blood and sweat of the poor.
Suppressing others to get rich and accumulate wealth has been considered as hard-working people.
They usually steal the sweats of the poor, suppressed women and even subjugate smaller ethnic groups, the release contended.
The organisations said they will observe the Day at Thoubal Keithel by releasing a book titled 'Adhikar Amasoong Khangatlaba Wari Macha Khara" penned by Thoibi Devi, who dreamt for sucha society.
The copies of the book will also be distributed to women vendors and students as part of the observance.
