Imphal, August 12, 2014:
The JAC formed against the unnatural death of Eliza expressed its dissent on the death inquiry report presented by the Special Medical Board (SMB).
O Roshan, Convenor of the Eliza death case JAC, said that the SMB's report was a biased one.
According to him, the SMB had presented the reports based only on what the doctors reported.
He further demanded a re-examination of the case taking into consideration, this time, both the statements of the doctors and the deceased family/JAC and the post mortem reports.
According to a media statement by Dr Nabakishor, RIMS Obstetrics and Gynaecology Head, Eliza was admitted to the Hospital with some serious complicacies.
Eliza, however, she did not show any sign of serious complicacies.
As per the norms, Eliza went through liver, heart, kidney and blood tests before cesarean section.
The results were normal.
However, three days after delivery, Eliza suffered severe cold.
According to the doctor's statement, the cold subsided moments after the deceased was administered paracetamol.
The JAC, strongly opposed the statement stating that the cold never subsided.
Further, Dr Nabakishor in his statement had opined that Eliza either got infected due to kidney failure or Haemolytic Uraemic Syndrome (HUS).
The statement itself proves, according to the JAC, that there has been medical negligence from the side of the hospital.
Else, he continued, why the attending doctors would perform an operation without confirming the condition of a patient.
