Village chief clarifies

The village chief of Machou Tera village, Chandel district, ST Moses Kom told mediapersons during a press meet held at Manipur Press Club today that the allegation heaped against him by K Rangkhupchung Kom who called himself as the chairman of the Machou Tera village United Development Party that he (Moses) had utilised a sum of Rs 2,50,000 for personal matter which he acquired by selling trees which were cut down from Uyok ching (Hill) from 2012 to April last was completely a false and concocted story.
He further claimed that K Rangkhupchung Kom also accused his brother, ST Romer Kom of taking the money which was sanctioned by the State Government to build an Anganwadi centre and a well in Chandel Block in 2011 and 2012 .
This was also a concocted story.
There has not been any instance where he or his brother has taken money sanctioned for social development.
K Rangkhupchung is not even a member of the Village Authority.
The allegation levelled by him against his brother and him were sheer concoctions, he said.
"Besides, according to a customary law I am the rightful person to be the village chief", he constituted.
