Imphal, April 23 2015 :
Tingkao Ragwang Chapriak Phom (TRCP) has expressed concern over alleged destruction, urination and spitting on the sacred ritual site of Ramji Kabui village by the locals of Sagolband Loukham Leirak.
In a statement, TRCP said that construction of the ritual site was carried out on a piece of land measuring 4 sq ft within the boundary of the village.
An order passed by the Subordinate Judge Manipur East-II on September 25, 1992 and the order issued by Imphal DC on December 13, 1993 clearly mentioned that the area where the sacred ritual site was constructed falls within the boundary of Ramji Kabui village, the statement said.
Giving disturbance to construction works and destruction of the site are not permissible in a democratic country, the statement said and added that every person must learn to respect the religion of other communities.
Claiming that Kabui tribe is the only community, which follows indigenous Tingkao Ragwang Chapriak religion, the statement said that religious and traditional rites of Kabui community are almost similar to that of Meiteis.
TRCP urged the locals of Loukham Leirak not to repeat such act in future.
