SECF re-engineered

Shija Eye Care Foundation (SECF), a unit of Shija Healthcare & Research Institute, has successfully re-engineered their processes and systems to make their services inclusive.
This initiative has been taken up in view of the global initiative of Vision 2020 � eliminating avoidable blindness in collaboration with LAICO (Lion's Aravind Institute of Community Ophthalmology) and Aravind Eye Care Systems, Madurai.
According to a statement, there will be a subsidized section of the ophthalmology department of Shija Hospitals which will cater to comprehensive eye care needs of those who need clinical and surgical treatments for avoidable and preventable blindness.
OPD consultation will be from 8 am to 3 pm on all days (except Sundays).
The charges for paid section will be Rs150 and a nominal Rs 20 for the subsidized section of the SECF,which will be valid for three months.
Consequent surgeries will be done at subsidized rate for the patients in the subsidized section.
Shija Eye Care Foundation conducts various community based peripheral outreach camps in rural and tribal areas.
More than 7000 patients have undergone free cataract surgeries.
Its service area extends to Mizoram, Nagaland, Assam and Myanmar.
179 patients were provided free cataract surgeries in the second Mission Myanmar.
As part of its community service, population based Retinopathy screening camps are also done.
The Eye department provides comprehensive ophthalmology services supported by new age technology of latest phacoemulsification machines, Accurus Vitrectomy machine, OCT, Green LASER, Nd YAG LASER, Corneal Topography, Humphrey's Visual Field Analyser etc, it said.
