Ban on Mission schools : MSF appeals, claims breakthrough

The Manipuri Students' Federation (MSF) and the school authorities of Catholic institutions and Catholic Educational Society, Manipur have today urged the underground outfit KCP (MC) to lift the ban imposed on Catholic Schools.
Speaking at the office of MSF located at Keishampat Top Leirak today, MSF and Pangal Student Organisation (PSO) advisor Th Udoi Luwang stated that MSF has achieved a breakthrough in the prolonged negotiation between the Catholic institutions and KCP (MC) which has been dragging on since April 1.He said that after a series of talks between school authorities and MSF representatives, a favourable situation has been brought where both KCP (MC) and school authorities of Catholic Schools can hold talks.
He added that so far the talks are positive.
He later urged parents and guardians to send their wards to schools for normal classes from tomorrow and van service providers to resume their service.
MSF later appealed to remove the ban imposed on the Catholic institutions in the larger interest of the student community.
Director of Catholic Educational Society, Manipur Father Paul Lelen Haokip who was also present at the press meet too appealed to the KCP (MC) to lift the ban imposed on Catholic schools.
He added that Catholic Churches have been engaging in various charitable works such as imparting education to the poor and other allied activities.
He appreciated the work taken up by the State Govt, student organizations and various CSOs of the State and their support in the hour of crisis.
Informing that the Catholic schools which remained shut till today would be re-opened from tomorrow, he appealed to all the parents of Catholic school students to send their children for normal classes.
