Imphal, April 23 2015 :
The Zeliangrong Baudi, AMN has vehemently condemned what it terms uncivilized act of local people who destroyed the gate, urinated and spat on the sacred deity (Bambu), pelted stones on the houses and harassed the minority community at Kinthanlong (Ramji) village on April 15, 2015 .
"The senseless attack, barbaric act of urination and spitting on the village sacred deity amount to direct attack on the nation's secular ideal and it deeply hurts the sentiment of the minority religious group of Kinthanlong village in particular and Zeliangrong people in general," a statement issued by the general secretary of ZB (AMN), Dr Gairiangmei Maringmei said.
It mentioned that more than 66 Zeliangrong inhabited villages are in different pockets of Imphal valley.
Zeliangrong people as law abiding citizens of the country had not resorted to any retaliatory action against the miscreants till date.
Such unfortunate incident and actions carried out by the majority against the minority people must be condemned by all right thinking people,
it said.
The ZB also demanded the authority concerned to arrest the miscreants and punish them according to the law of land and grant adequate compensation for the damage caused to properties so that such incidents do not recur in future.
It also sought the intervention of the Government of Manipur in the issue in order to bring in peace and normalcy at the earliest.
It further warned that the Baudi would not be a silent spectator unless the authority concerned intervenes at the earliest and settles the matter.
