Hog deer rescued

Imphal, June 25 2014:
One Kharsha (Hog Deer) which ran out from Yawa Lamjao was rescued and handed over to the Keibul Lamjao National Park Rescue Centre by some volunteers of Toubul Youth Development Association.
It is said that Yawa Lamjao is quite similar to the floating Keibul Lamjao National Park in terms of physical features.
Leishangthem Khamba, Huidrom Katan and Waheng-bam Naobi rescued the Kharsha from the hands of poachers on June 22, informed an official source.
The animal was handed over to the authority of Keibul Lamjao National Park today.
Incidentally Kharsha is listed in the Schedule I .
Some other hog deer are living in Yawa Lamjao which is around 700 hectares in area, said the official, Meanwhile, DCF (Park and Sanctuary) L Joykumar has hailed the act of rescuing and handing over the wild animal to the concerned authority.
