TDC extends aid to inferno victims

The Transporters' and Drivers' Council, Manipur has donated a sum of Rs 1 lakh to the victims of the devastating inferno that raged at Majorkhul yesterday.
The monetary aid was handed over to the headman of Majorkhul.
A team of TDC members led by its president H Ranjit today inspected the remains of the fire and handed over a sum of Rs 1 lakh to help the people rebuild their destroyed houses, shops, godowns etc.
Expressing deep anguish over the disaster, Ranjit prayed that such an incident does not recur in the future.
The TDC president also took opportunity of the moment and appealed to all to respect the service rendered by drivers and urged all to desist from harassing, abducting, killing, shooting and assaulting drivers on duty.

If the harassments continue, the possibility of all the drivers giving up their profession cannot be ruled out, said Ranjit and added that if such a situation comes to pass then the State would suffer immensely.
Instead of harassing drivers, Ranjit said that all, cutting across community and ethnic divides, should be helping them to carry out their duties smoothly and efficiently.
Professor Gangmumei Kamei who was also present at the event, expressed deep anguish over the damages caused by the devastating fire and extended his gratitude to the TDC on behalf of the people of Majorkhul.
Professor Kamei also acknowledged the presence of the Chief Minister and the Deputy Chief Minister during the inferno.
Acknowledging the immense service rendered by the drivers in transporting the basic necessities of life to the State, Professor Gangmumei Kamei said that they would extend all possible help and co-operation to the TDC in times of crises.
The inferno that ravaged Majorkhul on June 24 led to the loss of huge amount of money and assets.
Fortunately the fire did not claim any human lives.
