Training programme on achieving sustainability in agriculture held

A one-day State level farmers' training programme on the theme 'Towards Achieving Sustainability in Agriculture' was organized by Agriculture Technology Management Agency (ATMA), Bishnupur at the conference hall of Directorate of Agriculture, Sanjenthong here.
The programme was attended by Jason A Shimray, DC of Bishnupur; M Gojendra Singh, Director of State Agricultural Management & Extension Training Institute (SAMETI) and Y Shyamkishwar Singh, State Co-ordinator of ATMA as Chief Guest, President and Guest of Honor respectively.
Addressing the gathering, Jason A Shimray stated that as agricultural products produced by farmers are not sufficient to meet the demands of the ever increasing population of the country, it needs to be accelerated by adopting various agricultural techniques.
He said that farmers should be aware of modern agricultural technologies invented from time to time and adopt it to yield better productivity.
Maintaining that the State Government has been trying to organize such purposeful training programmes at the block level too so as to sensitize farmers on various methodologies which can be used to enhance agricultural products, he added that farmers should try to use their skills extensively which will in turn help in producing better agricultural products.
Around 100 farmers from different districts participated in today's training programme conducted with Dr L Nabachandra Singh, Prof & HOD (Agronomy), CAU Iroishemba; W Bhiseshwor Singh, Deputy Project Director of ATMA; Dr RK Dilip Singh, Associate Professor (Horticulture), CAU and Dr RK Imotomba Singh, Programme Co-ordinator of KVK Utlou as Resource Persons.
