Re-verification of head-count on in Senapati district

Over 15 villages have been covered so far on the 3rd day of the ongoing census re-verification process in three sub-divisions of Senapati District.
Earlier, on the day of launching the exercise on Sept 3 a meeting was convened at the Deputy Commissioner's chamber to deliberate about the on going Census verification by delegates of the Registrar General of India (RGI) headed by Chakroburty and 18 other delegates.
The meeting was held in the presence of Deputy Commissioner P.K Jha, IAS, SDOs, NPO, Tribe Hohos, Census Committee members and district frontal organizations.
In the Meeting, Chakroburty asserted that as only the Census Commission of India by the Registrar General of India has the right to declare the demographic count of the country and the team being the delegate of the competent authority, the verification process would be carried out with utmost transparency.
He also invited volunteers from the tribe Hohos and the concerned village authorities to join them in the process.
Ahrai, spokesman of Naga People Organization and member of the Census Committee welcomed the teams both from the Centre and state into Senapati and also highlighted the straggle of the people for the inclusion in the 2011 Census count of India.
He has strong faith in the team that justice be delivered through proper verification and also appealed the team not to leave the district without resolving the issue.
The Senapati District Women Association (SDWA), president A Lolia also expressed hope towards the team that hence this verification the three sub-division of Mao-Maram, Paomata, and Purul, population would be included in the National provisional census record.
Chakho Romeo the president of Mao Council suggested that for better facilitation of the delegates for the re-verification in various villages prior information might be served to concerned villages.
On the other hand, the team wished to make a random visit survey, to access vital information.
The central team of 19 members were divided into 6 groups who were allotted various location of the three sub-division.
The exercise is expected to go on for the next 9/10 days.
Till date, different teams consisting of RGI central delegates and District Administration delegates from the State along with three block officials and village authorities made a survey for the re-verification of those Village located around Senapati district headquarters like Punanamai, Shajouba, Purul Atongba, Purul Akutpa, Koide, Pudunamai, Kalinamai, Chowainamai, Chowainamai Khunou and others.
A random sample method of survey was adopted.
While other methods of collecting samples might be used for the other team and the same would not be applied for the following day.
