Eight councillors join BJP

Altogether eight councillors of Ningthoukhong Municipal Council (NMC) have joined Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP), Manipur Pradesh.
Out of the eight councillors, four from Congress Party are identified RK Ongbi Bimola of Ward No.11, Kh Sunolata of Ward No.7, L Dilipkumar of Ward No.12 and L Binodchandra of Ward No.14, while the other four are independent councillors namely A Tombi of Ward No.1, N Premila of Ward No.6, M Rajen of Ward No.3 and I Tomba of Ward No..4 Welcoming the councillors at the office of BJP Manipur Pradesh here today, President of BJP Manipur Pradesh Thounaojam Chaoba said that Ningthoukhong Municipal Council has 14 councillors, out of which six are Congress and eight are independent.
The Congress Party was in power with its six councillors and four other independent councillors, but it got defeated in the "no confidence motion".
A case has also been filed to the court for the formation of a new council, he noted.
Dissatisfied with the leadership of the Congress Party, the Congress councillors have joined the BJP to serve the people better.
The new BJP councillors would work dedicatedly for the people's welfare and development, Chaoba averred.
Meanwhile, the BJP Manipur Pradesh condoled the former President of BJP Singjamei Mandal Oinam Mangi, who passed away on August 31 last.
