Murderer gets rigorous life imprisonment

A person who has been found guilty of stabbing a man to death with a knife at a place near 5th MR camp in Khongjaron on November 21, 1999 was sentenced to rigorous imprisonment for life by the Session Judge, Manipur West.
The convict has been identified as one Golmei Keibalakpou (28), s/o G Thiujinang of Kahulong village, Tamenglong district and the victim as Pamei Salempao, also of Kahulong village.
Golmei Keibalakpou stabbed G Thiujinang to death with the help of a knife at a place near 5th MR camp at Khongjaron on November 21, 1999.The family members of the victim registered a complaint with the Tamenglong Police Station and an FIR was taken up accordingly.
The culprit was arrested later and a charge sheet was framed against him under section 302 of IPC.
Subsequently, hearing of the case was taken up in the court of the Session Judge, Manipur West.
On September 2, 2013, the culprit was convicted of murder and sentenced to rigorous imprisonment for life with fine amounting to Rs 10,000 by K Brajakumar Sharma, Sessions Judge, Manipur West.
However, the period of detention undergone by him from 23-11-1999 to 2-09-2013 during the period of investigation and trial shall be set aside from the sentence of imprisonment.
In case of default to pay the fine imposed, the offender shall undergo simple imprisonment of one more year, the court ruling said.
