In the light of the assurance given by the Joint Secretary (NE), MHA, Shambu Singh that interlocutor for talks with Kuki UG groups would be appointed soon after receiving approval from the PMO, the United People's Front (UPF) has said its delegates would soon visit the PMO in this regard.
Joint Secretary (NE), MHA, Shambu Singh had told the UPF delegates during the tripartite meeting between Kuki UG groups and Govt of Manipur and Centre on August 30 at Ashoka Hotel, New Delhi that all necessary procedure has been sent to the PMO for the appointment of interlocutor for political dialogue and once the PMO gives its approval, the interlocutor for the dialogue between the Govt and SoO groups would be officially announced.
The UPF further in a statement pointed out that membership strength of the front increased with the joining of Kuki Revolutionary Front (KRF) within its fold.
It added that KRF cadres would be housed at Thingsat designated camp in Sadar Hills.
During the meeting, reports about the involvement of SoO groups in kidnapping and extortions were seriously discussed.
The State and Centre Govts warned of serious action if such activities occur in future, the UPF statement said.
The Govt representatives also told the SoO groups that the presence of cadres in camps that are not designated is gross violation of SoO ground rules and hence such camps should be immediately removed.
The meeting also agreed to disallow any group which breaks away from their parent organisation from joining the SoO pact.
