Imphal, July 06 2026: Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand and Home Minister Govindas Konthoujam have strongly condemned the ambush carried out by militants near Nungshangkong in Ukhrul district this afternoon which claimed the lives of two Assam Rifles personnel.

The Chief Minister has conveyed his deepest condolences to the bereaved families of the two AR personnel.

The Chief Minister has stated that the Government will not tolerate such brutal violence and will not remain a mute spectator to these atrocities.

Culprits responsible for the murder will be arrested and punished as per the law of the land, Khemchand added.

Home Minister Govindas Konthoujam said that such incidents only disrupt peace and harmony.

"I am confident that the security forces will take all necessary measures to ensure that those responsible are dealt with strictly in accordance with the law", Govindas wrote in a social media post.
