Imphal, September 05, 2013:
An all political party meeting over the present 'faulty' border fencing being carried out along the Indo-Myanmar International boundary in Moreh should be convened and a committee be formed at the earliest, Kim Gangte, President of Manipur Pradesh Trinamool Congress has proposed.
Addressing media persons in this regard, Kim Gangte stated that the present border fencing issue is a serious one and cannot be ignored at all.
The issue has created confusion among the people of the State.
There is the need to grasp the understanding between the Indian Government and the Myanmar authority over the border fencing issue.
The State Government should clearly understand this and make it known to the public.
She further stated that there is also the need to call an All Political Party meeting over the issue and form a committee.
A memorandum in this connection has already been submitted to the Prime Minister.
She went on to inform that a team of MPTC met the national leaders of the party at Delhi and submitted a memorandum in this regard to the Prime Minister.
The 'faulty' border fencing along the Indo-Myanmar boundary that has led to losing a large chunk of Manipur's land to Myanmar is not acceptable and none of us should crave for any sort of compensation in this regard.
Kim Gangte also charged the Congress Government with fooling the public and stated that the Food Security Ordinance is only a ploy to woo the public in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
By passing the Food Security Ordiance, the Congress has promised to provide rice at the rate of Rs 3/kg to the public.
But even if rice is provided at such a subsidized rate, the prices of all other essential commodities will rise.
The price of potato is likely to increase at Rs 40/kg and tomatoes at Rs 50/kg, she noted.
