Irabot remembered fondly on 118th birth anniversary

All Thoubal District United Clubs Organisation (ATDUCO), Social Development United Clubs Organisation (SDUCO), Leishangthem and Thoudam Leishangthem High School jointly observed the 118th birth anniversary of Hijam Irabot yesterday at Leishangthem high School, Thoubal Leishangthem.
The event was graced by Leishangthem Zilla Parishad member Md Abdul Latif as chief guest, Thoudam Leishangthem High School asst headmaster, Leishangthem Yaiskul Singh as president, social worker Thoudam Open Singh and Leishangthem Gram Panchayat Up-Pradhan Yenkhom Indira Devi as guests of honour respectively.
The gathering offered floral tributes to Hijam Irabot as a part of the event.
ATDUCO president Loitam Rajen delivered the key note address of the event while DDC Wangjing president Tekcham Rameshor Meetei, former MPSC member L Manao, ATDUCO advisor L Subhas, AMUCO vice-president Ph Deban and Public English School, Leishangthem Principal N Rabei elaborated on the life and contributions of Hijam Irabot.
In continuation, the event also hosted a district level symposium on 'youths Mentally Unrest in Manipur' and a patriotic song competition.

ATDUCO, in hand with various other clubs and organisations also organised social service camps at various places of Thoubal district on September 20 as part of the observation.
On the other hand, a commemorative function on the 63rd death anniversary of Hijam Irabot was held at Manipur College today under the aegis of Joint Students' Co-ordination Committee (JSCC) .
The function opened with offering of floral tributes to the portrait of Hijam Irabot.
The dignitaries of the function were Manipur College Principal Kh Jayentakumar and JSCC convenor Th Premananda.
Reminding the great works and contributions of the late leader in bringing up the Manipuri society and its student community, Th Premananda while speaking at the occasion said that the students of the college must also work hard without leaving any room for gender discrimination and possess a vision like the late hero himself.
Another commemorative function was held at Irabot Bhawan with CPI veteran leader M Ibohal among others.
During the ceremony M Ibohal along with all others who were present at the function paid homage to Hijam Irabot by offering flowers and observing a two minute silence as a mark of respect to the departed soul.
Similar commemorative functions were also organised by the Irabot Memorial Charitable Trust at Pishum Oinam Leikai, All Manipur Women's Voluntary Association at Keishampat, All India Trade Union Congress Manipur State Committee at Irabot Bhavan, International peace and Social Advancement at their office, Chanura Lamchinglel Kangleipak at their office, Protection and Preservation Committee at their office, All Manipur Progressive Farmers' Association and Irabot Foundation, Manipur at the latter's office and AMUCO at Kwakeithel.
