Rongmei CSOs condemn Karuluang incident

Rongmei Lu Phuam (RLP), Rongmei Naga Youth Organization (RNYO) and Rongmei Naga Students' Organization (RNSO) Northeast India have expressed their resentment over the recent incident at Karuluang Samtila Assam on December 14, 2021, wherein Armed group purportedly NSCN-IM, opened fire at public open spaces causing panic and civilian casualty.
In a joint statement, the Rongmei CSOs stated that the incident is seen as intentional and provocative towards the Rongmei people.
"It is quite shocking to know that the Naga Nationalist Government now in current peace talk with the GOI is seen to be offensive and oppressing the Naga civilians in Rongmei Naga inhabited areas of Assam and Manipur.
While the Indian Military and security forces are committing brutality and atrocities to the civilians as if the GOI is going mad and mute at the Nagas in Naga inhabited areas and North Eastern region in general", it alleged.
The CSOs also alleged that the recent incident at Karuluang Samtila Assam is an attempt to create public unrest.
While condemning the tragic incident, the Joint Rongmei CSOs also urged the perpetrators to openly admit and seek public apology with remedial recompense for the damages and casualty made to the affected families and villagers within 15 days with effect from December 15 .
"Failing which may prompt the public to initiate a noncooperation movement against the group", it asserted.
The Rongmei CSOs further cautioned the perpetrators to shun and withdraw military operations against other factions/groups in all Rongmei inhabited areas.
"As resolved in the Charter Declaration of the Rongmei People Convention 2018 Tamenglong, the Rongmei Inhabited Areas is declared as a Peace Zone.
No factional fight or offences shall be tolerated anymore in the region", it concluded.
