Imphal, February 17 2016:
JD-U State unit president M Tombi has decried invitation of the Chief Ministers of Nagaland and Mizoram to the Lui-Ngai-Ni celebration at Ukhrul while leaving out all State executives as an insult to all the people of Manipur.
Speaking to media persons today, M Tombi said that JD-U strongly condemned the statements of the two neighbouring Chief Ministers which only incited hatred and animosity among different communities of Manipur.
Democracy has been rendered meaningless in most hill areas of the State as representatives are not elected but selected at the behest of some militant groups.
As people's representatives and militants are in the same league as opposed to the collective wish and aspirations of the people, public administration failed miserably in hill areas.
This in turn bred serious issues for the State as a whole, Tombi said.
If any untoward incident breaks out, BJP leaders of the Centre and the State should be held accountable.
Invitation of Chief Ministers of neighbouring States to the Lui-Ngai-Ni festival which is a State holiday while undermining many communities living together in the State is a clear manifestation of the BJP Government's divide and rule policy, he added.
