Russell's viper rescued

Imphal, February 17 2016:
A Russell's viper snake was rescued by
Choilen Khongsai and Thangjamang Sitlhou from the backyard of
Omega School, Motbung today.
The duo caught the reptile with a
stick and informed the staff of Saparmeina Police Station, who
relayed the news to Inspector L Lhouvum, OC of the said station.
He took the advice of Addl SP of Kangpokpi, who relayed the in-
formation to Chief Wildlife Warden (CWW), Manipur.
CWW
constituted a rescue team comprising of members of PFA Manipur
and staffs from Iroisemba Zoological Garden, who went to
Saparmeina.
The team rescued the reptile and brought the injured
and weak viper to PFA Manipur animal shelter for treatment and
relocation.
Russell's viper is one of the most poisonous snake, a
statement issued by managing trustee of PFA, Manipur said.
