Imphal, February 17 2016: Bharatiya Janata Party Yuva Morcha (BJYM) State secretary Barish Sharma has been accused of thrashing a 32-year-old man at Sagolband Moirang Leirak last night.

Locals conducted an emergency meeting at the office of Sana Khotnaba Amasung Chaokhat Khongthang Lup to discuss the matter today.

Meira Paibis of Nepra Menjor Kha Wang Chaokhat Thourang Nupi Lup, local club members, victim and his family members attended the meeting.

The victim identified as Bon Yumnam s/o Yumnam Rajen of Nepra Menjor Mamang Leikai said that he went to the grocery shop of one Haorungbam Dimple at Moirang Leirak Manung near Popular School to collect money last night.

When he was waiting for money outside the shop, some unknown persons who came out from the shop after having pan asked him to move aside in an aberrant manner.

Bon said that the unknown persons kept on verbally abusing him although he moved aside and ignored them as they were drunk.

After a few minutes a man came near him and asked whether he knew him or not.

As Bon replied that he did not know him, the man went to a Maruti Gypsy parked a few metres away from the shop.

After some time, he returned with a drunken Manipur Rifles personnel and grabbed the collar of his shirt and dragged him towards the Gypsy, Bon said.

The man also asked the MR personnel to handover Bon to police on the charge of attempt to murder.

The MR personnel pulled his gun's bolt and pointed his weapon at Bon's forehead and thrashed him severely.

They also kept on asking whether he knew that man.

Later, he was rescued by some locals, Bob said.

The unknown persons along with the MR personnel left the area in three vehicles � one white coloured Tata Safari without number plate, one Mahindra Scorpio and one Maruti Gypsy.

Later, he came to know that the man who led the team is Barish Sharma of Wangkhei Ningthem Pukhri Mapal.

Locals said that the man often comes at the area to have pan and creates nuisance there.

Bon lodged a complaint against Barish at Imphal police station last night itself.

Strongly condemning the incident, Nepra Menjor Kha Wang Chaokhat Thourang Nupi Lup secretary Yumnam Bimola demanded the Government to punish Barish befittingly.

She also stressed on the need to take up steps by Meira Paibis to prevent such unwanted incidents at the locality.
