Nupi Lan Numit Observation Committee demands clarification from BJP Mahila Morcha

Imphal, December 15 2021: 82nd Nupi Lan Numit Observation Committee has come out strongly against the alleged show of mockery towards the brave Imas who fought against the British in 1904 and 1939 by BJP Mahila Morcha and stated that images of Nupi Lan should not be used as a tool to further political campaigns.

In a statement released today, 82nd Nupi Lan Numit Observation Committee has questioned the BJP Mahila Morcha's motive behind inserting a BJP lotus symbol on a Nupi Lan poster.

Accusing the Morcha of mocking and insulting the Imas, the Committee further questioned why photos of BJP leaders were displayed alongside the Nupi Lan poster and subsequently demanded a clarification from the Morcha.

The statement also questioned if the BJP leaders whose photos were displayed partook in the Nupi Lan and informed that no other Government in the past has displayed such demeaning behaviour during Nupi Lan celebration.

The Committee further stated that it has no problem with people observing Nupi Lan Numit and in fact went on to express gratitude towards those who lent their support in celebrating this historic day.

However, the statement added that people will not forgive a blatant misconstruing of what Nupi Lan Numit stands for.

The Committee urged the administration from indulging in behaviour that might cause an uproar.
