Francis quits MLA's post, leaves INC

Another Congress MLA has resigned today, both from the MLA’s post and primary membership of Congress party.
This time it is Francis Ngajokpa, elected from Tadubi Assembly Constituency.
Francis Ngajokpa today tendered his resignation letter to the State Assembly Secretary.
The MLA came to the office of the Assembly Secretary together with some of his supporters and tendered his resignation letter at around 11.30 am.
After coming out from the State Assembly complex, Francis Ngajokpa and his supporters went to Congress Bhavan where he submitted his resignation letter from the primary membership of Congress party to MPCC president TN Haokip.
TN Haokip said that the party has no objection when someone wants to quit the party.
The party respects the rights and privileges of all MLAs.
Francis Ngajokpa said that he was resigning from Congress party in accordance with the wish of the people of Tadubi AC.
“I love Congress party but people’s wish is overriding.
I joined Congress party in 1985 and I have no grievances or ill-feelings against the party”, Francis said.
On being enquired about the political party which he may join, Francis Ngajokpa said that the people of his home constituency do not want him to join Naga People’s Front ( NPF ).
“Personally, I don’t want to join any regional party.
I would rather join a National party”, he continued.
Even though Francis did not name any political party, many people have been speculating that he is most likely to join BJP.
Notably, a public meeting held at Maram Centre ground on October 11 adopted a resolution that MLA Francis Ngajokpa would not be welcomed in Tadubi AC until and unless he resigns from Congress party.
The meeting further resolved not to support Congress party in the forthcoming State Assembly election .
MLA Francis Ngajokpa was supposed to attend the meeting but he was told midway not to come to Tadubi AC untill and unless he resigns from Congress party.
Before Francis Ngajokpa, Y Erabot (Wangkhei AC) and N Biren (Heingang AC) had resigned from the posts of MLA as well as from the primary membership of Congress.
Francis Ngajokpa was first elected to the Manipur Legislative Assembly on Congress ticket in 2002 and he was re-elected as an MLA of the same party in 2012 .
