Chingai youth fest begins

The 52nd Chingai Baptist Youth Society Autumn Festival has kicked off with lively rendition of Tangkhul “Haola” folk song by the village elders today, reports our correspondent .
The villagers thronged the celebration venue to welcome Sword Vashum who was the chief guest of the inaugural function.
Speaking at the occasion, Sword Vashum appreciated youth for their enthusiastic spirit to preserve the Tangkhul culture and organising such festival.
Sword Vashum who is also a BJP intending candidate from 45 Chingai AC urged the youth to uphold the spirit of oneness and to have a sense of responsibility towards society.
Acknowledging Sword Vashum’s vision for the well-being of the people, Chingai village headman Kaphungkan stated that Sword Vashum is a man of integrity with immense potential to bring an overall development in the area.
Therefore, people should extend support and contribute in building a developed society, he added.
The three-day festival will be marked by presentation of various Tangkhul folk songs and dances.
Quiz, debate and other outdoor games will also be conducted.
