Alek Muivah, Judicial Magistrate First Class, Imphal West I today convicted two persons with simple imprisonment of two years and nine months respectively regarding two separate cases.
The first accused Taorem Noren Singh (27) s/o T Ibeyaima of Haorang Keireng was produced before the Court from judicial custody under the Cril case number 1 of 2016 with referred FIR number 84 2015 of Lamshang police station under section 406 and 402 IPC.
During the trial today, the APP submitted before the Court that the alleged accused person Noren had approached one Koijam Kiran, proprietor of London Enterprises located at Lamshang Bazar at around 4 pm of August 16 last year.
London Enterprises is engaged in lending out utensils.
Noren hired several utensils and sold them off rather than returning them to London Enterprises.
The defence counsel submitted before the Court that he had spoken to the accused person inside jail and the accused had admitted to committing the offences charged against him.
However, it was also submitted that the accused was not in his proper sense while committing the crime due to drugs consumption.
The accused pleaded guilty in the Court and he was subsequently convicted under 420 and 406 IPC.
The Court awarded a sentence of two years simple imprisonment form the date of arrest regarding the case.
Another accused was convicted under 379 IPC for nine months by the same Court today.
The accused identified as Fajur Rahim s/o Md Chaoba of Kiyamgei Mayai Leikai was on bail.
He appeared before the Court with regard to FIR number 114 (6) of Singjamei police station under section 379 IPC A charge sheet was submitted against him by Singjamei police station on July 12, 2015. During the charge hearing of the case today, the accused pleaded guilty for the crime he had committed.
Subsequently, the Court sentenced the accused to nine months simple imprisonment till April 9 next year.
It may be mentioned that the accused was arrested by Imphal West Commando SI Pathou from Wangoi Bazar on June 17 at around 2.30 pm during a frisking and checking drive after the accused person tried to run away on seeing police.
According to a written submission made by SI Pathou, the accused revealed that the Honda Pleasure he was riding was lifted by him from MU Gate the previous day.
