11th Manipur State League Contrasting wins for NISA, TRUGPU

NISA, Thangmeiband and TRUGPU, Nambol registered contrasting wins over their respective opponents today in the ongoing 11th Manipur State League.
In the first encounter of the day, NISA eked out a thrilling 3-2 win over Sagolband United (SU).
David KC Ngaihte gave NISA an early lead as he slotted home the opener in the 9th minute.
In a span of four minutes from the first goal, T Deepak doubled the lead as his long range shot from near halfway line was beyond the catching reach of their opponents’ custodian.
SU struggled hard to find the equalisers and upped the attack.
They were rewarded for their efforts as M Loken netted a goal for SU in the 37th minute.
SU restored parity as Kh Krishnananda scored an unexpected one in the first half injury time.
The first half ended in a 2-2 tie.
Both sides bounced back in the second half with more vigour trying to explore each others defence line weaknesses.
NISA dominated possession in the second half.
But they could not easily made inroads into their opponents citadel.
It was Kh Bidyakumar who scored another goal for NISA in the 84th minute that eventually earned full points to the team.
With the win today, NISA were placed 3rd in the league table with 13 points in six games while SU were in the sixth with seven points in seven games.
In another encounter, TRUGPU, Nambol eased to a 3-0 win over NACO, Nambul Mapan.
TRUGPU and NACO, who were both struggling to ensure a place in the safe zone, started the match impressively.
However, TRUGPU visibly had the upper hand.
Th Ratan opened the account of TRUGPU as he converted a penalty kick in the 36th minute.
The penalty was awarded against NACO as their defender’s hand came into contact with the ball in the penalty area.
Y Jetli extended the lead of TRUGPU in the 39th minute and the first half ended with the team taking an easy 2-0 lead.
The normal time of the second half remained a listless affair although both sides made efforts to alter the score line.
H Pijabung completed the score for TRUGPU in the last minute of the injury time.
