88 more test positive; 2 deaths reported in last 24 hours

Imphal, October 16 2021:
The State maintained its Covid daily test positivity rate below 5 percent for three days on the trot recording 4.4 percent on Saturday.
This, however, is the fourth time in the month that the positivity rate has fallen below 5 percent, with the first one being 4.3 percent reported on October 7, followed by October 14 (2.5 percent), October 15 (4.3 percent) and October 16 (4.4 percent).
As per COVID-19 Common Control Room, 88 persons including 1 CAPF personnel tested Covid positive out of 2,010 samples tested in the last 24 hours while 2 died (1 each from Imphal East and Ukhrul) due to the disease in the same period.
None of the deceased were vaccinated against COVID-19 and had co-morbidities, as per the Government bulletin.
The fresh Covid cases were confirmed at RIMS (8), JNIMS (15) and other testing centres (65) while the cases from the general population are from Imphal East (24), Imphal West (27), Thoubal (10), Bishnupur (4), Kakching (3), Ukhrul (9), Chandel (1), Tengnoupal (3), Kangpokpi and Kamjong (1) .
Notably, this is also the second time in the month that the daily positive cases have fallen below 100 .
On October 14 Manipur saw 69 new cases.
District wise, Kamjong remains at the top in terms of daily Covid positivity rate with 14.3 percent updated on Saturday, followed by Ukhrul and Tengnoupal with 9.6 and 9.4 percent respectively.
Today, another 108 persons were discharged from home isolation (20), RIMS (9), JNIMS (9) and CCCs (70), improving the recovery rate to 97.30 percent and reducing the active cases to 1,422 .
The total number of Covid cases, on the other hand, has now touched 1,22,633 .
On October 15, 624 D-type and 136 B-type cylinders were distributed to different health facilities and 5835 Covid vaccine doses were administered to the people.
As enumerated by the COVID-19 Common Control Room, COVID-19 beds available at different health care centres are RIMS (general beds 215; ICU/HDU beds 28), JNIMS (general beds 61; ICU/HDU beds 0), Iboyaima Hospital (general beds 25; ICU/HDU beds 5), Jivan Hospital (general beds 20; ICU/HDU beds 5), Shija Hospital (general beds 45; ICU/HDU beds 35) and Raj Medicity (general beds 82; ICU/HDU beds 24) .
