Imphal, May 05 2013: CPI-ML together with its frontal organisations, a number of civil organisations and neighbouring villages of Silent have donated relief material to the villagers of Silent whose houses were burnt down on May 3 .

ICHAM and MLA Preshow Shimray have also donated relief material to the victims.

CPI-ML donated 20 bags of rice, one bag of dal and tomatoes to the Silent village authority today.

The relief materials were delivered to Silent villagers by a joint team CPI-ML, Irabot Research and Commemoration Committee, All Manipur Intellectual Forum, All Manipur Democratic Women Front, All Manipur Peasants' Union, All Manipur Rickshaw Drivers and Pullers Welfare Association, Unified People's Struggle Committee, Manipur Youth League and Students' League Manipur.

Speaking at a gathering there at Silent village, CPI-ML State secretary Sapam Shyamsunder blamed the Government for the unfortunate incident.

It was a result of keeping a decades old dispute unresolved.

The State Government should bear sole responsibility for the arson.

Whatever aid and assistance given by the Government and other bodies could not compensate what have been lost, Shyamsunder said.

He further proposed to set up a relief committee together with Silent villagers for re-construction of houses.

He appealed to all concern to avoid such untoward incidents in future and also not harbour any intention of revenge.

Meanwhile, All Manipur Youth Protection Committee, Kangleipak Women Welfare Association, Women Welfare Organisation, Kangleipak, Students Union of Kangleipak and Kanglei Chanura Lamjing Lup donated eight bags of rice and one bag each of dal, sugar, salt and potato.

A team of ICHAM volunteers led by its advisor MLA Preshow Shimray and president N Rajendro visited Silent village and donated rice, dal, tarpaulin to the arson victims.

Speaking to the villagers, Preshow Shimray stated that people have been enduring several difficulties in both the hills and valley.

Whatever difficulties endured by the hill people are understood and felt by valley people.

The same is true for hill people too.

He also cautioned all the people to remain wary of rumour-mongers.

Stating that Manipur Government is there for Silent village, Preshow Shimray assured that all the wishes of the village would be certainly translated into action under the leadership of Chief Minister O Ibobi.

ICHAM president N Rajendro condemned in the strongest term the act of burning down dwelling houses.

Claiming that ICHAM was set up with the primary objective of addressing the plight and difficulties of hill people, Rajendro assured all possible assistance to Silent village from the side of ICHAM.

Another team led by UCM vice-president Chandramani Khuman went to Silent village and donated relief materials like rice, dal, potato, edible oil, candle etc.

While condemning the May 3 outrage in the strongest term, Chandramani appealed to all sections of the society to avert such incidents in future.

In connection with a land dispute, 36 houses of Silent were burnt down by Seijang villagers on May 3 .
