A new branch of Sky Hospital and Research Centre was inaugurated today at Porompat near JNIMS by Works Minister Dr Kh Ratankumar.
The newly inaugurated branch would be primarily treating heart ailments and cardio vascular problems.
The hospital would also provide facilities for diagnosis and treatment of diseases related to Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Paediatrics, general surgery, Orthopaedics, Medicine, Nephrology, ENT, dialysis etc.
The inaugural function was graced by Works Minister Dr Kh Ratankumar as chief guest and YAS Parliamentary Secretary M Prithiviraj as president.
Speaking at the occasion, Sky Hospital and Research Centre chairman Dr L Shyamkishore said that the total population of Manipur according to 2011 census report is around 27 lakhs but Government hospitals are unable to cater to health care requirements of all the people.

To make up this shortcoming up to some extent, Sky Hospital and Research Centre was opened at RIMS Road and another branch at JNIMS gate.
Sky Hospital and Research Centre is now a Government recognised centre for treatment of heart diseases and necessary surgical operations.
People belonging to BPL category can avail Rs 1.50 lakh from the Manipur State Illness Assistance Fund if they have heart problems and get treated at Sky Hospital and Research Centre, Dr Shyamkishore said.
The State Government has been working hard to provide health care services to the people but Government alone cannot fulfil all the heath care requirements of the people.
Herein lies the importance of private hospitals, he said.
M Prithiviraj appealed to all doctors to inform patients all the facts as well as their limitations, if they have any.
There were instances when some people were told by doctors they had been infected by cancer.
But when the patients went outside the State, their infections turned out to be something else, not cancer.
Wrong information given by doctors caused unnecessary misery, tension and stress to patients, Prithiviraj added.
