Imphal, May 05 2013:
All Tribal Chiefs' Association (ATCA), Manipur; Ethno Heritage Council (HERICOUN) and All Tribal Students Union Manipur (ATSUM) have strongly condemned the incident of burning down 36 houses at Silent village by people from the neighbouring Seijang village on May 3 following a land dispute.
In a statement, ATCA) demanded to set up an IRB post at Silent village to prevent recurrence of such unfortunate incidents in future.
It also observed that burning down of houses and government properties by mob very often in Manipur is a very disturbing trend that needs to be curbed.
So, state government should take up serious actions against those involved in torching houses at Silent village.
Maintaining that the incident was carried out by some individuals and not the villagers of Seijang as a whole, HERICOUN has appealed to all not to flare up communal sentiments.
Aam Aadmi Party, Manipur has also strongly condemned the incident of Silent Village and appealed to all the people of Manipur, both in hills and the valley, to restrain from giving communal tone over the incident but continue to live with love, peace and harmony.
Furthermore, it urged the State Government to bring about an amicable solution to settle the land dispute.
