Imphal, May 05 2013:
While appealing to all the people of different communities not to communalise the May 3 outrage at Silent village, the All Manipur United Clubs' Organisation (AMUCO) has questioned why the State Government did not do anything to resolve the decades old land dispute between the two neighbouring villages.
Addressing a press meet at their office this evening, AMUCO president KT Rahaman stated that the dispute between Silent and Seijang should be resolved through people to people dialogue between the two villages.
Even after knowing that tension was building between the two villages, the Government did not intervene to avoid unwanted incidents.
No land disputes should be allowed to threaten communal harmony and integrity of Manipur, asserted the AMUCO president.
He also appealed to all communities of Manipur to work for peace collectively.
Being a democratic Nation, authorities need to look into land laws.
To resolve any land dispute, civil organisations based in the hills and valley need to work together.
AMUCO would extend all possible assistance in all efforts towards resolving the land dispute between Seijang and Silent through joint meetings and dialogue, KT Rahaman stated.
