UG surrenders

A cadre of the proscribed UNLF outfit has reportedly surrendered to security forces of Red Shield Division even as troops of the same Division apprehended two members of Zomi Revolutionary Front on May 4 and 2 respectively along with arms and ammos.
According to a PIB (DW) statement, the UNLF cadre identified (No 886/Batch No 13) as SS Sgt Maj Salam Kunjabihari alias Tharoiba of Khordak Awang Leikai of Bishnupur district surrendered to a Red Shield Division unit at around 3.30 pm with one .22mm Rifle and magazine.
Kunjabihari is said to revealed that he joined UNLF outfit in 2000 and was actively involved in money collection for the banned outfit from Kumbi area.
The statement also informed about troops of 27 Sector of Division rounding up two ZRF cadres on May 2 .
Based on intelligence from own sources regarding presence of ZRF cadres in general area Bungmel village, Churachandpur district, an operation was launched by 46 Assam Rifles leading to the arrest of ZRF's Rig Valte alias Rigsong (30) s/o (L) Ginzalian Valte of Elim Veng New Lamka, Churachandpur district.
A quick on-spot interrogation revealed actionable intelligence from the cadre, based on which another joint operation was launched that led to the rounding up of another ZRF cadre namely Khamkhanlun alias Femendo (38) s/o Kamzachin of New Lamka, maintained the PIB (DW) statement.
It is said that a revolver, one hand grenade and huge quantity of ammunition were recovered from the latter's possession.
Both have been handed over to Imphal West Police Station, it added.
