Imphal, May 05 2013:
Deputy Chief Minister today hit back at political parties and their leaders who have been criticising the Congress Government.
He said that the present situation looks like there is no Opposition party.
Even if there is no Opposition party in reality, it would be better if they act as if there are a few Opposition parties.
Gaikhangam was speaking at a one-day political conference organised by Keishamthong Block Committee at Pishumthong Ningom Leirak ground.
Addressing the gathering which was attended by Congress Ministers and MLAs, Gaikhangam said that the parties now censuring Congress party were uprooted in the last State Assembly election.
Many of these parties could not get even a single candidate elected.
What these national and State parties have been shouting against the Congress Government is nothing but 'empty vessels making much noise' .

He went on to claim that Congress party understands well the wishes and pulses of the people.
With Manipur emerging as a gateway to South East Asia under the Government of India's Look East Policy, national planners have started focusing their attention on Manipur, asserted the Deputy Chief Minister.
Asking what position the people of Manipur should take in the face of the imminent changes, Gaikhangam stated that people should endeavour to make Manipur self-reliant.
He also announced that MPCC would organise an event for youth level office bearers with AICC leaders for strengthening the party.
