COVID-19 claims five more lives, 271 more test positive

The COVID-19 pandemic continues to exact a heavy toll on the State'spopulation with five more succumbing to the virus while 271 persons including 12 personnel of CAPF were tested positive during the last 24 hours.
A press release issued by Additional Director (Health) and COVID-19 Common Control Room spokesman Dr Khoirom Sasheekumar Mangang informed that three males and one female from Imphal West district and one female from Kakching expired due to COVID-19 complications at Raj Medicity, JNIMS and RIMS during the last 24 hours.
The three male victims from Imphal West were aged 52, 76 and 67 while the female victim was 41 years old.
The female victim from Kakching was 37 years old.
Taking into account the latest victims, the death toll has surged to 405 .
On the other hand, 271 new positive cases were detected at JNIMS, RIMS, Imphal East, Imphal West, Maipakpi Hospital, Raj Medicity, RD Wing, CMC, Shija Hospital, Babina Diagnostics, Escent Diagnostics, Thoubal, Bishnupur, Kakching, Ukhrul, Churachandpur, Chandel, Jiribam and Noney.
Of the 259 civilians who have been tested positive, Imphal West and Imphal East districts accounted for the bulk of the fresh positive cases with 105 and 104 cases respectively.
The remaining are residents of Thoubal (8), Bishnupur (12), Kakching (2), Ukhrul (7), Senapati (3), Churachandpur (10), Chandel (5), Noney (2) and Jiribam (1) .
Following recovery, 74 COVID-19 positive people were discharged during the last 24 hours from home isolation (54), CAPF (1), RIMS (8), JNIMS (3), Raj Medicity (1) and Shija Hospital (7) .
The cumulative number of positive cases is 31,586 (general population 28,022 and Central security personnel 3,564) .
It includes 1417 active cases (general population 1308 and Central security personnel 109) and 29,764 recovered cases (general population 26,313 and Central security personnel 3,451) .
The recovery rate now stands at 94.23 per cent.
Air passengers who came to the State on April 25 by Indigo flight 6E-6181 in rows 16-21 and 6E-21 in rows 29-35 have been informed to report to the COVID-19 Common Control Room on 18003453818 or respective District Surveillance Officers immediately.
Even though 19 air passengers were tested at Imphal airport today, not a single positive case was detected.
The cumulative number of air passengers tested for COVID-19 at Imphal airport has reached 4,396 and it includes 98 positive cases.
As per latest information provided by the COVID-19 Common Control Room, 1,73,056 people have been vaccinated against COVID-19 in the State so far.
Further, all persons above 45 years have been advised to get vaccinated immediately at vaccination centres of RIMS, JNIMS, district hospitals, CHCs, PHCs and select private hospitals.
