Senapati, April 30 2021:
Yet in another case of abduction, a tailor working at Old Road, Senapati was abducted by some unidentified persons on April 29 at around 5:35 pm.
The abducted person is identified as one, Md Umar (35) from Yairipok Phouden Leikai, Thoubal district and presently working at New Fashion Tailor, Old Road, Senapati.
According to a source, 5 unidentified persons came in a white Indigo car at the shop on April 29 and inquired about stitching a coat.
Later, they requested Umar to go down the road with them for measurement as one of their officer was not able to climb up due to some pain in the leg.
On reaching the car, Umar was reportedly pushed inside the car and drove away towards Imphal.
By then, a friend of Umar called him in his phone to enquire where he was going.
Umar reportedly answered the phone but before he could say anything, the phone was switched off.
No claims regarding the abduction have been reported yet.
Meanwhile, in protest against the abduction of Md Umar, the shopkeepers of Senapati DHQ shut down all shops at Senapati town to show their solidarity against such abduction.
In a statement issued by the Naga People's Organisation, the local CSOs including the NPO, Senapati District Students Association (SDSA) and the Senapati District Women's Association (SDWA) strongly condemned the abduction and added that there is no room for such case to occur in the district.
The CSOs further appealed to release Md Umar unconditionally at the earliest, else they would be compelled to take up democratic forms of agitation.
