Imphal, April 30 2021:
Chief Judicial Magistrate Imphal West today remanded Md Ashlam Khan (20) to judicial custody for his alleged involvement in the Poknapham hand grenade incident.
Md Ashlam Khan of Kwakta Ward Number 7 was produced before the Court after the completion of police custody period along with a prayer for judicial custody till May 13 for further investigation of the case.
It may be noted that a hand grenade was lobbed at the office Poknapham and The People's Chronicle at Keishampat Thiyam Leikai on February 12.During the hearing today, the Court noted that the age of the accused as per original documents of Aadhaar Card and ID card submitted by the IO of the case is above 18 years.
The Court then rejected the claim of the accused person that he is a minor and also deferred his prayer for transferring the case to JJB (Juvenile Justice Board) .
The Court then remanded the accused to judicial custody till May 13.It may be noted that Md Ashlam Khan is the 9th person arrested in connection with the case.
