Manipur Police today paid last respects to 6th Manipur Rifles Jemadar Waikhom Ronald who died of COVID-19 while on election duty in Assam.
Top police officers led by ADGP L Kailun paid floral tributes to the photograph of Waikhom Ronald.
IGP (Ops) E Priyokumar, DIGP (AP-I) Mamata Wahengbam and many officers and personnel of 6th MR came to the Thoubal Kshetri Leikai residence of Waikhom Ronald and paid tributes to their late colleague.
Not long after, the mortal remains of Jemadar Ronald were brought to his native village and workers of Thoubal Municipal Council performed the last rites by following the COVID-19 protocol.
Ronald who was detailed for election duty in Assam and West Bengal died of COVID-19 at Guwahati Medical College yesterday.
