Public alerted on plots to strain unity

Imphal, March 15 2023: Committee of Civil Societies, Kan-gleipak (CCSK) president Jeetendra Nin-gombam has called upon the people of the state to remain alert from deceptive plots to disrupt the unity and integrity among the 35 indigenous communities of the state recognised by the government.

Addressing a press meet at Sangai Ethnic Park, Moirang Khunou on Wednesday, where traditional houses of all the recognised 35 communities are on display, Jeetendra said that Manipur is a living example of Unity in Diversity with 35 different indigenous communities living together in harmony despite its small geographical area.

The same feeling was expressed by foreign delegates, who visited the park as part of the recent B20 summit held in Imphal, he said.

Unfortunately, some vested interested groups of individuals have been trying to incite communal ill-feelings and disrupt the unity and integrity of the indigenous communities of the state in recent times, especially in the past few days.

It is time for people of the 35 recognised communities to stand united and raise a single voice against such attempts, Jeetendra said.

He also expressed suspicion of involvement of some political groups and CSOs behind the whole situation and added that CCSK will not remain silent when any force attempts to destroy the bond of brotherhood among the indigenous communities.
