MDA reaches out to injured drivers

Imphal, March 15 2023:
Manipur Drivers' Association (MDA) extended financial assistance to three truck drivers, who were injured in different road accidents in January and February this year.
In a statement, MDA informed that an official team of the association visited the three drivers at their respective house and handed over the financial assistance to them Umar Khan (26) son of late Yai Ali of Thoubal Keibung suffered injury in a road accident that took place in Kohima on January 23 this year.
Truck driver Laishram Bidyasagar alias Kham-ba (25) s/o late Leiren of Khangabok and second driver Thokchom Athoi were injured in another road accident that took place near Rengpang on February 26 .
On the other hand, the MDA team also pro vided financial assistance to the family members of late driver Sorokhaibam Babu, who was killed by some members of a UG group in Sinam Khul area near Tupul in 2013.After the incident, MDA assured of providing assistance to Babu's only daughter, who was studying in 6th standard then, till she gets married.
the statement further informed that apart from the financial assistance extended to the injured and kin of deceased drivers, MDA has also been providing on-road assistance to drivers in times of mishaps for which the association is deploying three ambulances along the national highways.
It will continue such assistance to drivers in need without any discrimination, it affirmed.
