Kangpokpi, March 15 2023:
The All Tribal Students' Union Manipur (ATSUM) has urged the Chief Minister for his direction to the authority concerned for declaring the long pending result of Assistant Professors for Government Colleges in the state.
In a representation submitted to the Chief Minister today, the ATSUM highlighted the acute shortage of teachers in Government Colleges and appealed to declare the recruitment examination result of the Assistant Professors at the earliest.
Notably, a list of shortlisted candidates for the post of 190 Assistant Professors was published on August 23, 2021 .
Interviews of the shortlisted candidates were held from September 3 to September 21, 2021.Subsequently, the matter was referred to the Department of Personnel for declaration of results.
After completion of the recruitment process, the University and Higher Education Department sought approval from the Government on November 25, 2021 for declaration of result.
However, the result is yet to be declared till date even after a span of one and a half year of referring the matter to the DP for procedural completion, ATSUM said.
This apathetic attitude of the Government in delaying the declaration of results is highly questionable as most of the Government colleges are functioning without adequate number of teachers, the ATSUM stated.
The Higher Education sector of Manipur is witnessing an acute shortage of teaching faculty which is severely affecting the academic career of thousands of students in the State, it said.
Delay in the declaration of the said Assistant Professors' examination result has de-motivated as well as defeated the aspirations of the candidates and further aggravated the academic problems of the colleges due to the dearth of teaching faculties, ATSUM stated.
ATSUM then urged the Chief Minister's kind consideration in giving direction to the authority concerned to declare the result of the said recruitment examination at the earliest.
The student body also cautioned that failing to pay heed to the legitimate appeal for declaring the recruitment result of 190 posts of Assistant Professors may compel them to explore any possible means to ensure that vacant posts of teachers in Government colleges are filled before the onset of new academic session in collaboration with other students' organizations of the State.
