Kpi, March 15 2023:
All Tribal Students' Union Manipur (ATSUM) urged chief minister N Biren for giving directive to authority concerned to declare the pending result of recruitment of assistant professors for government colleges.
In a representation submitted to the chief minister, the apex body of tribal students' organisations demanded declaration of the recruitment result at the earliest so that vacant posts of teachers in government colleges could be filled before the commencement of new academic session.
ATSUM also said it might be compelled to explore any possible means in coordination with other student organisations of the state to ensure that vacant posts of teachers in government colleges are filled before com mencement of new academic session.
According to the ATSUM representation, the state department of higher and technical education invited application from suitable candidates for filling up 190 (145 + 45-ST special drive) posts of assistant professors on contract basis in government colleges in March, 2021.After due screening of academic credentials and suitability of the applied candidates strictly in compliance with UGC norms and criteria, a list of the shortlisted candidates for the same was furnished online on August 23, 2021 .
Accordingly, interviews for the said posts began on Sep tember 3,2021 and were completed on September 21,2021 .
Subsequently, the Secretariat: Highef & Technical Education Department, on June 23, 2022 declared that the recruitment process is nearing completion and referred to der partment of personnel as per the required procedure for declaration or result.
However, the result is yet to be declared till date even after a span of almost one and a half years of referring the matter to DP for procedural completion.
This apathetic attitude of the government in delaying declaration of results is highly questionable as most of the government colleges are functioning with dearth of teachers, ASTUM stated.
While asserting that higher education sector of Manipur is witnessing acute shortage of teaching faculty thereby severely affecting academic career of thousands of students, ATSUM urged the chief minister to give directive for declaring the recruitment result of assistant professors at the earliest possible time.
