Need for thorough study on integrated farming systems raised

Director of Extension Education, Central Agricultural University (CAU) Imphal, Professor Ph Ranjit Sharma stressed on the need of conducting detailed study on integrated farming systems to earn more profits.
He made the above statement acknowledging the feasibility of integrated farming systems in the Northeastern region.
He was speaking at the inaugural function of 5-day training programme on 'Integrated Farming System with Special Reference to Livestock Production, Fishery & Horticulture for Empowerment of Farm Women from Different Districts of the State' held at NEC-Model Farm, DEE, CAU, Lamphelpat.
The training programme is being organised by the Directorate of Extension Education, CAU Imphal under the sponsorship of National Commission for Women, Government of India.

A total of 90 farm women are participating in the training programme.
Highlighting the significance of preserving the native products, Professor Ph Ranjit Sharma maintained that it is of utmost importance to acquire Geographical Indications/GI tags or similar registrations to ensure that the originality of the product stays intact.
He also expressed that efforts should be made to safeguard the endangered breed of native vegetation and lifeforms.
Lastly he appealed to the trainers to avail the maximum benefits of such training programmes.
Other dignitaries namely Professor Th Ranadhir Singh, Livestock In-charge, NEC Model Farm, CAU Imphal and Manipur State Commission for Women (MSCW) Chairperson, Salam Ulka Devi lauded the enormous contributions of women in the society and maintained that cohesive efforts should be made for the social and economic upliftment of women.
Former Joint Director of Agriculture, Govt of Manipur and Consultant Oil Palm Mission Manipur MS Khaidem and Deputy Director, DEE, CAU, Imphal Dr Dipak Nath also attended the event.
