Cyclist Rojit bags another silver, Sorojini wins Triathlon bronze
Manipur played out a 1-1 regulation time draw with Odisha at Tilak Maidan but faltered in the tie-breakers to settle for a silver medal in the ongoing 37th National Games.
After a goalless first half, Odisha went ahead after 51 minutes with Pyari Xaxa finding the breakthrough but Manipur fought back and drew level through Nongmeikapam Sibani Devi in the 79th minute.
As the two sides remained locked at 1-1, the game was decided by tie-breakers where Pyari Xaxa, Grace Lalrampari Hauhnar, Bannya Kabiraj and S Lynda Kom scored for Odisha and only Wangkhem Linthoingambi Devi and Phanjoubam Nirmala Devi scored for Manipur.
Haryana edged Bengal 1-0 with Tannu scoring the all-important goal in the 36th minute of the bronze medal encounter earlier.
Manipur storm into men's football semis
Manipur stormed into the semi-finals of the Men's Football event in the 37th National Games in Goa to set up a clash with Punjab.
Manipur made it to the semi-final with a resounding 8-3 victory over Maharashtra yesterday at Fatorda as Samson shone with a treble.
Manipur, who led 2-0 at the half time, pumped in six more in the second session to throw Maharashtra out of the competition.
Samson (3), Phijam Sanathoi Meetei (2), W Sadananda Singh (2) and Somishon Shirak scored for the winners.
Shanon Pereira, Umesh Peramba and Sufiyan Shaikh were Maharashtra goalscorers.
In the other semi-final, Services will take on Kerala.
Both the penultimate round matches will be played on November 6, 2023 .

Y Rojit wins fourth medal
Having won two gold and a silver medal earlier, cyclist Y Rojit won his fourth medal in the Goa National Games securing a silver medal in the Men's Keirin competition today.
Thoudam Sorojini, Kh Nganba wins bronze in Triathlon
Manipur also secured two bronze medals in triathlon till today with Thoudam Sorijini securing a bronze medal today after Khundrakpam Nganba Meitei won a similar medal yesterday.
Sorojini clocked 14:57 in swimming (750 m); 23:19 in running (5 km) and 38:27 in cycling (20 km) to settle for the bronze medal today.
Mansi Mohite of Maharashtra won the gold medal (13:14 in swimming; 22:28 in running; 36:44 cycling) as her compatriot Sanjana Joshi (13:09 in swimming; 26:14 in running and 36:54 in cycling) bagged the bronze medal.
Yesterday, Khundrakpam Nganba Meitei took 10 minutes 54 second in 750 m swimming, 18 minutes 13 seconds in 5 km running and 32 minutes 25 seconds in 20 km cycling to finish third in the men's individual competition that saw Adarsh Sinimol of Services seal the gold medal (10:54 in swimming; 17:35 in running and 32:30 in cycling) .
