30 hospitalised after consuming 'Hawaijar'

Bishnupur, November 02 2023: Around 30 people from Yumnam Khunou under Oinam AC were hospitalised after consuming locally-made fermented soybeans (Hawaijar) .

Some of the affected people were rushed to District Hospital Bishnupur, while others were taken to PHC Oinam, CHC Nambol and hospitals in Imphal, where some of them are still undergoing treatment.

One of the patients urged fermented soybean makers to be careful in making the product, adding that cases of food poisoning due to consumption of fermented soybeans are on the rise.
