Imphal, June 26 2023:
Despite repeated calls to unite, the political parties and elected members seem divided till today, said Students' Union of Kangleipak (SUK) .
Speaking to media persons at its office, SUK president Ningthoujam Dhanakumar Meitei said there seems to be a division among the elected members and political parties.
Amid the current situation no political leader should work to gain political mileage, he said, adding demanding resignation or change of CM would work in the interest of the Kuki militants and their supporters who have been demanding the same.
During the all political party meeting of June 24, the leaders didn't table the key issues that caused the violence in the first place, he said.
They failed to demand withdrawal of Suspension of Operation (SoO) with Kuki militants.
They failed to mention key factors that fuelled the violence.
They didn't mention crackdown on drugs, poppy cultivation, eviction of encroachers from reserved and protected forests and illegal immigrants infiltrating from across the border, he said.
Dhanakumar further alleged that the decisions taken so far by the public, civil bodies including COCOMI have not been mentioned by any of the political parties in the ruling and the Opposition to leaders in Delhi.
The leaders of all the political parties should come together and unite.
They should collectively make their stand and demand clear to the Central Government for effective action and interventions to bring peace to the Manipur and the people, he said.
