Kangpokpi protests 'attack' on *gallantry Awardee' AR officer

A massive sit-in protest was held in Kangpokpi against the alleged attack on 'Gallantry Awardee' officer of the Assam Rifles during the June 24 mob incident at Gamgiphai village, the bordering village of Kangpokpi and Imphal West district.
Hundreds of women from Kangpokpi district came out and took part the protest against the alleged attempt of the Meira Paibi activists to storm police check point at Gamgiphai.
According to a protestor named Moi, the Meira Paibi without knowing the reality attacked Captain Maningba, who led the security forces, in foiling the intent of the huge mob.
Had not the security forces intervened timely to stop Meira Paibis from moving further in between Kanglatongbi bridge and Kanglatongbi Bazar Board, the situation could turn otherwise, she said while reminding all concerned that Captain Maningba has been granted recognition as a national nero for his bravery and heroism during the Galwan crisis.
While seeking immediate attention of the Central government, Moi said that Kuki-Zo people are literally dying and immediate step is required to bring political solution to the ongoing crisis.
The women protestors shouted slogans like 'Stop intruding into Kangpokpi district', 'We condemn Meira Paibi' etc.
They also held placards inscribed with words like 'Meira Paibis are no more a respectable Meitei's mother organisation', 'We condemn Meira Paibis manhandling security forces while performing their duties', 'Love your Indian Army as we love them' etc.
