Imphal, June 26 2023:
While welcoming the proposal for sending delegation of INC, AAP, AIFB, AITC, CPI, CPI(M), JD(U), NCP, RSP and Shiv Sena (UBT) to Manipur for assessing ground reality of the conflict situation, Youth For Peace and Progress Manipur (YPPM) said that the demand of the ten political parties for removal of chief minister N Biren amidst such situation is surprising.
In a release, YPPM pointed out that those demanding Kuki homeland also have the same demand for the removal of CM.
As such, there is every reason to suspect whether the ten political parties are also supporting those inpursuance of Kuki homeland.
The release also questioned the stand of the ten political parties on withdrawal of SoO agreement with Kuki militants so as to restore peace; their initiatives to detect and identify illegal immigrants while they were in power; the narratives spread on national and international media that Meitei instigated the conflict and Kuki are the sole victims.
The release further stated that people did not want to bring in grudges among the political parties and cause more conflict among us.
Instead the political parties should take firm stand on the issue after knowing the cause of the conflict, it added.
