Imphal, June 26 2023:
Womenfolk of Khurai area expressed suspicion about certain groups and individuals trying to politicise the unrest situation and creating enmity among the Meitei community in an attempt to lead the people's agitation astray.
A sit-in protest agitation cum public meeting/discussion was held at Khurai Lamlong Keithel on Monday under the aegis of Unity Meira Lup wherein womenfolk of Khurai area present at the protest demanded action against those involved in the mob violence, assaulting a woman and attacking minister L Susindro's house.
Speaking at the protest, Unity Meira Lup member Lairikyengbam Kananbala opined that attack on minister L Susindro, who along MLA Kh Ibomcha, had saved the lives of two meira paibi activists, could have been due to political instigation.
Such narrow politics should be avoided at this critical juncture," she stressed.
The Lup member also appealed all concerned not to play politics and to help in identifying the culprits involved in the act.
Association member Naorem Ibemcha, who was also present at the protest, said that the clubs and organisations of Sabungkhok area stating that they were not aware of the June 23 incident where two meira paibi activists were assaulted on the charge of being Kuki informers, is very unfortunate.
Since no clarification has been issued from any quarters over the incident despite deadline of June 26 served, legal actions would be taken up against the clubs and meira paibi associations of Sabungkhok, she said.
