Bishnupur, June 26 2023:
Disagreeing with Chief Minister N Biren Singh's suggestion to stop blocking the movement of Central security forces and conducting checks along roads at night, Moirang Apunba Meira Paibi Ima Lup (MAMPIL) has asserted that they will continue with their protective measures until the ongoing conflict is resolved.
President of MAMPIL, K Padamo Devi made the statement during a sit-in protest jointly organised by MAMPIL and Kege Moirang Kendra Apunba Lup (KEMKAL) at Moirang Lamkhai today.
K Padamo went on to address the claim of normalcy and peace in Manipur made by the Central and State and questioned where exactly peace has been restored when the number of casualties keeps on increasing steadily.

"Where is this peace that the Chief Minister speaks of when Kuki militants keep firing upon innocent Meitei civilians and causing deaths and injuries?", she questioned.
She further asked why the fifty MLAs cannot stand up for the integrity of Manipur when the ten Chin-Kuki MLAs have boldly stood up in opposition to the State Government.
Condemning the alleged acts of Central security forces apprehending or attacking unarmed villager volunteers guarding their respective villagers, she asserted that womenfolk will continue to guard the villagers and protect the young volunteers in the face of such wrongdoings.
Contrary to the Chief Minister's assurance to dismantle bunkers built beyond one's own district or village during his recent visit to Kwakta, Padama stated that the bunkers set up by Kukis in the adjoining foothill areas of Bishnupur and Churachandpur district are still intact.
She also highlighted the need for the Central and State Government to work sincerely in order to restore peace in the strife-torn State while appealing for restoration of normalcy.
Fielding solutions to the ongoing crisis, she suggested implementation of NRC in Manipur, withdrawal of SoO pact with Kuki militants and pulling out Assam Rifles from the State.
Speaking by the sideline of the protest, L Boy, assistant secretary, KEMKAL appealed for deployment of State security forces in Torbung while calling for withdrawal of the Assam Rifles from the area.
He also voiced the local public's distrust of Central security forces.
Today's sit-in protest was attended by K Padamo, president MAMPIL; N Thaba, secretary, MAMPIL; Ph Nipamacha, vice-president, KEMKAL; L Boy, assistant secretary, KEMKAL and locals from Phubala GP, Ngangkhalawai GP, Tronglaobi Terakhongshangbi GP and Moirang Municipal Council.
The protestors raised various slogans and held placards with messages such as "Manipur's territorial integrity cannot be infringed upon", "No separate administration", "Abrogate SoO pact", "Implement NRC in Manipur", "Stop firing upon innocent civilians", "Stop narco-terrorism", "Hill-valley union cannot be broken" etc.
